A Thymos news mailing is set up every month, in which information can be found on events, sports associations and Internal Competitions. The weather is getting better and better, that means it will be summer soon! So it's time to get back into shape for summer and start exercising! In March, table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis players could really indulge themselves during the racket tournament. The racket tournament was also this year a nice event. Next week the ball tournament will be held! It is already full so subscription is not possible anymore. New Thymos Internal Competition: Tchoukball
In May we will start a “new” Thymos Internal Competition, Tchoukball. Tchoukball is played in teams of five persons (with at least 1 woman). The sport can be compared to handball, but instead of a goal a tchouk, some kind of trampoline, is used. To score, the attacking team should throw the ball in the tchouk of the opponent and another player of the attacking team should catch that ball (without letting the ball get touched by the floor or the opponent). Are you interested and do you like to participate? You can subscribe your team at our website.
Thymos Party (10th of April)
Tuesday the 10th of April is your chance to burn all the calories of the Eastern Brunch during our ‘I just wanna make you sweat’ party! From 22.00h we will welcome you at café Het Gat with 100 welcome-shots for the first visitors. Wear your sports clothes and celebrate our birthday with us! Entrance is free!
Olympic Event (20th of april)
Always dreamed about participating in the Olympics? Do you want to compete in sports and show that your country is the best? This is your chance! On the 20th of April, Thymos, ISOW and IxESN will organise the Wageningen Olympic Games! It will be a whole night of sports and fun, and it’s for free! Several sports and games will be played: think of basketball, a Paralympic relay race, knotsball and javelin throwing. You can join in a team with people from your country or you can subscribe individually. Even if you are not the sporty kind of person, cheering for your country is also fun! Be quick with subscribing on our website, there is only limited space!
The Olympics will start at 19:00h and take till 23:00h. Afterwards, there will be a big after party in the sports centre.
Thymos Waterfun Experience (25th of April)
On Wednesday the 25th of April, Thymos will organise a new kind of event: the Waterfun Experience!
Around the time of 18:00h, we will drive to the lovely area of Zeewolde, where we will have an exciting evening full of waterfun! Slides, a wave pool, whirlpool, lazy river, rapids, outdoor pool and even a bodyboard-wave (possible with instruction) are part of this subtropical indoor swimming pool. The Experience will costs only €12,- for students with sports rights and €14,50 for students without, so be quick and subscribe on our website!
Run-Bike-Run (11th of May)
Friday evening the 11th of May the fifth Run Bike Run will be held. This is a big event which both students and non-students participate in. You can participate individually or in a pair. Participants of the Run-Bike-Run will run 5 km, then bike 20 km and finally run 2.5 km. You can register on the website of the Dutch Triathlon Confederation (www.ntbinschrijvingen.nl) or by following the links on our website. You will also find information about the costs here.
Battle of the Studies (24th of May)
This year Thymos organises again the Battle of the Studies, which will be held on Thursday the 24th of May starting at 19.00h till about 23.00h. Last year the BotS was a huge success and we hope this year will be even better! Teams from different student associations will battle for the fiercely coveted title of the BotS, which Biologica now holds. During the different matches we'll see who's the strongest from the 5-to-8-person teams. Participation is free. Keep an eye on our website for the opening of the subscriptions!
The Great National Student Championship (GNSK) (1st, 2nd and 3rd of June)
From Friday, 1st of June, till Sunday, the 3rd of June, the Major Great National Championships are held again, this time in Eindhoven. At the GNSK, different sports tournaments are held and universities battle one another in a league for all these sports combined. Every year the following sports are represented: badminton, basketball, handball, squash, tennis, football, volleyball and fencing. Additionally, there are a number of optional sports each year. The optional sports for GNSK 2012 are waterpolo, judo, cycling, rugby, table tennis, frisbee and lacrosse. If you play one of these sports at a high level and you think it would be nice to represent Wageningen at the GNSK, then mail us! Of course, Thymos hopes that lots of Wageningen students will participate in this years GNSK and make a sportive and lively contribution to this weekend! Participation costs €35, but thanks to a subsidy from USB and SWU Thymos, you only have to pay €10 for the whole weekend! Interested? Also keep an eye on the GNSK site (www.gnsk.nl).
Thymos Water weekend (Friday 8th till Sunday 10th of June)
During this weekend various water sports will be practiced, amongst others sailing and windsurfing. You can already subscribe for this weekend on our website.
