Daily Board

The main responsibility from the six members of the SWU Thymos Daily Board (DB) is to represent thesportive Wageningen students. Apart from a chair(wo)man, secretary / vice chair(wo)man and treasurer, also a commissioner PR and two commissioners sports are part of the DB. Throughout the year the DB organises a large number of events like the sportnight, battle of the studies and dance-evening. Besides we make sure that at least once a month you can do a special ‘Experience’, this means we organise activities that most people have never done before like flowboarding and gliding, but also apenkooien en rope skipping! We also make sure that there are always several kinds of internal competitions in knotsbal, volleyball, indoor football. Also the DB distributes subsidies among the 20 student sports clubs and individual athletes who play sports atrecognized associations. The DB helps students to participate in national sport events and makes sure that small materials are sufficient for all sporting students. Besides these tasks, there are many more services Thymos has to offer to students with sports rights.

Chair-woman

Hi everyone! My name is Aafke Nijhuis and this year I will fulfil the function of chairwoman in the Thymos board. Personally, I love to do sports so I am very motivated to organise and improve student sports in Wageningen.  Together with the other members of the board I will do my best to organise some great events this year!

Before I went into the Thymos board I was doing my Msc in Nutrition&Health. In my spare time I like to dance and do several other sport like race cycling. Besides, I am a member of the athletics association Tartlétos. A nice annual running event is the Batavierenrace; a huge running contest for students only. This winter I will also join for ice-skating with the students ice-skating association IJzersterk. Besides sports I also like partying and now and then you can find me in one of the better bars of Wageningen.

If you like to know more about the activities of Thymos or just want to have coffee with us, you can come by in our office at the Bongerd.

Secretary

My name is Anna Sijbrandij, I study food technology and this year I am the secretary of SWU Thymos. This includes making the minutes, keeping up the mail and I am also the contact person of the student sports associations. Besides, I am involved in the writing of the Thymos policy and I am responsible for the teams which are going to compete for Wageningen at the GNSK (Grand Dutch Student Championship). I am an enthusiastic ice skater and therefore I will organise the ice skating experience. Because there is no ice in summer I also do cycling and skating. Furthermore I like going out with my friends and having a drink with my sorority.

Treasurer

Hi everybody!

This upcoming year you won’t see me during the lectures anymore, but you can find me at the Sports Centre de Bongerd. I’ll be on the full-time Thymos-board as the treasurer. I take care of all finances, like the annual budget and clearance. Besides, you can ask me for several subsidies.

The last 3 years I did the Bachelor Food and Health. I ‘m always busy with different kind of sports, that’s one of the reasons I have chosen for Thymos. Four times a week I play field hockey here in Wageningen. Some other hobbies are squash, tennis, soccer and of course going out with friends.

Each member of the board also organises their own events, you’ll find them in the sports calendar and at our website. So check the website for updates regularly! If you have some more questions you are always welcome to come over to the Thymos office.

Commissioner Publicity

Hello,

I’m Lilou van Lieshout and I’m the new commissioner Public Relations of SWU Thymos. I study nutrition and Health and just finished my bachelor last July. The commissioner PR makes sure that all the fun events get the attention they deserve by making posters, flyers, updating the website, facebook, twitter etc. Also I make sure we have the gadgets for the AID and the annual sportsguide which you get in the AID. Al this promotion is necessary because all students should know that so many is possible at the SCB and Thymos!

Besides promoting activities I also organise some events. My personal sports is dancing, I like every kind of dancing and I used to do contests in streetdance. So it will probably not surprise you that I organise the DANCE-evening this year. On this evening you can do all kinds of dances. Some of them are possible at the SCB, but some of them are very special, even I have never done them before!

If I’m not on the Thymos office you will probably find me at my student association SSR-W with my debating association, year club or several commissions.

Commissioner Sports  I
 

Hi! I’m Kim van Noort, this year Sanne Boeken and I are the Commissioners Sports in the daily board of SWU Thymos. Together with Sanne I hope to organise some beautiful and nice events, like the Sports Night, the BotS and the Run-Bike-Run. In addition to these three events, I will organize a number of experiences and not to forget the Ball tournament and the Racket tournament, which I will organise with the other girls of Thymos. Besides this I try to keep the Thymos Internal Competitions, the TICs, knotsbal and the ladders running. With my jc and fellow students I have played already several times in the knotsbal competition and this period we start with a team of my dispuut. If I was not spending this year in the daily board of Thymos I had start my master molecular life sciences. Besides my study I’m active by my study association Alchimica and SSR-W, just have a nice drink with fellow students, jc or my dispuut. Commissioner Sports II

Hello!

Let me introduce myself: my name is Sanne Boeken and this year you will see me mainly during all events and experiences which will be organized by Thymos this year. Things like the Sportsnight, Run-Bike-Run, BotS, Dance evening, ball-and racket tournament en the AID-Sportsday will probably sound familiar to you. Together with Kim van Noort I will not only organize these events, but also coordinate the Internal Competitions. My first 6 months will be characterised by organizing the StudentenWintersport, which will take place in the beautiful area of Les Sybelles in France.

Next to my study Equine, Leisure and Sports at Van Hall Larenstein I also like to do several kinds of sports. Horse riding, skating, dancing, kickboxing, salsa and running are my favourites, but you can always wake me up for a game of soccer or another challengeJ Of course sports are not the only thing in my life. A day together with friends and family or an evening with my housemates or yearclub from Ceres are also part of my daily activities.

Together with the other girls, we are going to have a fantastic year with a lot of fun, excitement, new experiences and learning moments.
